This simple design of this teacup allows Senryuzan Kiln's white ash glaze to be on full display. This type of glazr is perfect for enjoying Hagi yaki's "nanabake" process, also called the "Seven Disguises of Hagi yaki". Due to being fired at such a low temperature, Hagi yaki remains porous and absorbent, allowing tea and other liquids to seep into the pores of the clay. This gives a crackle glaze appearance and can even slightly change the colour of each piece over time. After you buy a Hagi yaki piece, you still have a lot to look forward to.
As each item is handmade, slight size and glaze variations may exist between items.

Senryuzan Kiln
For nearly 200 years, Senryuzan Kiln has been a custodian of traditional Japanese ceramic craft. The small collective of artists honours the traditional spirit and cultures of Hagi yaki.
Each Senryuzan Kiln vessel is crafted using traditional Hagi yaki clays, techniques and ash glazes before being wood fired in their climbing kiln.
Every piece represents their traditional approach to Hagi yaki.
