Kyoto Green Tea - Gyokuro Ujihikari - 2023 season
Gyokuro Ujihikari is a single origin green tea from Wazuka Town, Kyoto Prefecture. This variety is characterized by its elegant flavour and dark green colour. This variety features a smooth texture and a suppressed astringency allowing for a full, concentrated flavour.
Each serve of this tea can be brewed up to three times.
Wazuka-cho has continued the tradition of producing high quality tea for over 800 years. The region's climate makes it is prone to fog which helps block direct sunlight from reaching the tea leaves. The tea leaves are also covered in shade for 20 days prior to harvesting. This protection from the sun reduces bitterness and produces a rich, sweet tea.
Gyokuro is rich in not only the catechins found in tea, but also theanine, a type of amino acid, and vitamin C.
