Looking for Japanese gifts in Brisbane? This November, we're returning to Vacant Assembly in West End with Natsu with OKAERI, a month-long pop-up celebrating Japanese craftsmanship, homewares and functional art.
Running from 7 to 29 November 2026, our pop-up brings together a curated collection of products sourced from skilled makers across Japan. Visitors can browse traditional ceramics, Japanese paper lamps, incense, tea wares, matcha accessories and unique gifts.
Whether you're looking for a gift, adding something to your home or interested in Japanese craft, Natsu with OKAERI offers an opportunity to explore the collection in person.
Discover Japanese Gifts and Homewares in West End
OKAERI specialises in Japanese homewares that combine practical use with thoughtful design. The collection includes traditional crafts and everyday items made using established techniques and, in many cases, natural materials.
At Natsu with OKAERI, visitors can discover a range of Japanese gifts suited to different interests and occasions, including:
- Japanese ceramics: Functional pieces for serving food, enjoying tea and everyday use.
- Japanese paper lamps: Lighting that combines traditional materials with considered design.
- Japanese incense: Fragrances for creating a comfortable atmosphere at home.
- Japanese tea and matcha accessories: Items for preparing and enjoying Japanese tea.
- Handcrafted homewares: Useful, well-made objects selected for their quality and connection to Japanese makers.
The pop-up will also feature new pieces alongside popular products returning from previous OKAERI events. It is an opportunity to see the range up close, compare pieces and learn more about the makers and techniques behind them.
A Pop-Up Celebrating Japanese Craftsmanship
This is not OKAERI's first visit to Vacant Assembly. Returning to the West End venue allows us to share more of the Japanese crafts and functional art that inform our collection.
At OKAERI, we believe the objects we use every day should be both useful and well made. Our collection brings together traditional Japanese crafts and contemporary designs intended to be enjoyed over time, rather than replaced as trends change.
Each piece is selected with its maker, materials and intended use in mind. We hope visitors will find items that become part of their daily routines, whether that means preparing tea, serving a meal or making a home more comfortable.
Complimentary Japanese Green Tea and Iced Coffee
To celebrate the Australian summer, visitors can enjoy complimentary cold-brewed Japanese green tea and iced filter coffee during the pop-up.
Take a break from browsing, try a refreshing drink and explore the collection at your own pace. Whether you have visited OKAERI before or are discovering the store for the first time, you're welcome to stop by.
